I bought the Align Palazzo pants from Lululemon while I was pregnant in a size 12. At the time, they were perfect. Now, postpartum, they fit differently and that’s exactly why I wanted to document my experience.

During pregnancy the size 12 fit well: supportive at the waist, didn’t dig in, gave my belly room, let the pleats hang nicely, and felt elevated yet comfortable. Sizing up was the right choice.

Now that I’m postpartum:
The waistband is slightly loose
The length was too long (I kept stepping on them)
The overall silhouette is a bit more relaxed than I prefer
I had them hemmed (Lululemon offers free hemming), and that made a significant difference.
After hemming, they feel intentional again instead of overwhelming.

I also tried the size 10.
Here’s the difference:
Size 10:
Better waist fit
Slightly more tailored
More fitted overall
But the pleats didn’t drape as nicely
Size 12:
Softer silhouette
Better pleat drape
More forgiving
Slightly loose postpartum
If I were buying long-term today, I would probably choose the size 10.
But during pregnancy, the 12 was the correct decision.
This is why sizing isn’t static. It depends on your season.
